We want every child in the world to have the opportunity to do The Daily Mile in their nursery or primary school.
Fit For Life
We want to provide everyone aged 11+ with a platform to do The Daily Mile in their secondary school, workplace, university, college, and much more.
The Daily Mile Foundation is proudly partnered with Imperial College London (ICL), who Chair our ‘Expert Steering Group’. The Expert Steering Group, or ESG, is a group of academics researching The Daily Mile in a variety of fields, who assist in contributing to our understanding of The Daily Mile.
Elaine Wyllie, founder of The Daily Mile, started the initiative in February 2012. Since then, her passion as a Headteacher, Trustee and Ambassador for children’s health and wellbeing has driven The Daily Mile Foundation from strength to strength, and shaped The Daily Mile into a global initiative.
The Daily Mile initiative has grown rapidly, since the Foundation’s establishment in 2016. We’d like to thank our Implementation Partners for their on-going support and passion for the project.
What they say
INEOS has been supporting The Daily Mile for the last three years. We know how important it is to encourage children to get fit and healthy and look after themselves, not just for today but for the years to come.Jim Ratcliffe, Founder and Chairman of INEOS
Children love The Daily Mile! It's completely free, simple and fully inclusive. Children who do The Daily Mile are fitter, happier, less sedentary and have less fat.Elaine Wyllie, Founder and Trustee of The Daily Mile Foundation
I think that The Daily Mile has the potential to be the first ever, truly global health & wellbeing initiative for young children. I also believe that these children will be an inspiration for us all to seek a more active lifestyle.Leen Heemskerk, Trustee of The Daily Mile Foundation
The Daily Mile provides that easy first-step of being active with your school friends and could also be a catalyst for children to join a local sports club. All children should have this fun opportunity, no matter their background and locality. All schools should give it a go and I’m sure the whole school will benefit for doing this together.John Mayock, Trustee of The Daily Mile Foundation
I'm excited to see more children, no matter their background or ability, empowered by exercise both for now and for the future - I firmly feel that small changes, such as The Daily Mile, can transform bodies, lives and public health.Ursula Heath, Trustee of The Daily Mile Foundation
The Daily Mile breaks the mould in children’s health - and schools and nurseries are leading the way. Children are happier, fitter, a healthier weight and concentrate better in class - tackling inequality in both health and attainment.John Wyllie, Trustee of The Daily Mile Foundation
